Northern Gulf Apparent Target Of Tropical Wave
Just about any long-range weather forecast you look at is saying the middle of next week, September 5th through the following weekend is going to be a lot wet. Yeah, a lot wet, it's how we say it's gonna rain.
The culprit in our midweek moisture is a tropical wave that is currently located off Haiti. It's forecast to be blown over Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center has upped the probability that the wave could strengthen into a tropical depression or storm.
The latest forecast suggests a 40% probability of a defined tropical cyclone by Wednesday. The forecast track suggests that the storm system could meander anywhere from south of Houston Texas to Panama City Florida.
For Acadiana, we should certainly plan on a rainy wet week following the Labor Day holiday. Of course, the better chances of rain and thunderstorms will occur during the afternoon and evening hours.
