(Lafayette, LA) To say folks in Louisiana are excited about having not one but two locations of the world-renowned Buc-ee's travel centers in the state is an understatement. For years, Louisiana fans of the "Beaver Brand" have driven for hours for brisket, Beaver Nuggets, barbeque, jerky, and the chance to use a bathroom that is cleaner than most surgical suites.

If you're not aware, there are plans in place for a new I-20 location of Buc-ee's to be built near Ruston. There are also plans for an I-10 Buc-ee's location in the works that would be built near Lafayette.  Needless to say, we are waiting patiently, but sharp-eyed fans of the beaver brand have noticed that the newer Buc-ee's locations don't have something that the Texas locations do.

I have to admit, I did not notice this significant difference at first. It was pointed out to me via a post on the social media site X, formerly Twitter. The post on Twitter suggested that the soon-to-be-opened Harrison County, Mississippi, location would have a different "decor" when compared to some of the Texas locations of the travel center.

Does Buc-ee's Have a New Mascot?

I will give you a hint: the change is subtle, but it's significant. And it has everything to do with how the store's mascot will greet you when you pop in. The change is already raising "concerns" along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Let's just say it's all about the Beaver, and some people have too much time to notice things that most of us would never notice.

Somehow, I don't think a slimmer, sexier beaver statue is going to change anyone's opinion of what's in the store, but Buc-ee's is so much more than a store to a lot of people. It's almost like a "cult" in the way some people follow and dissect every move the company makes.

I guess it's good to have fans who are that invested in your brand. However, if Buc-ee's wants to play to its audience, that beaver should not be getting skinnier.
