Off-Duty New Orleans Officer Shot
WWL-TV is reporting that Police Superintendent Michael Harrison says an off-duty police officer was shot in the leg around 1:20 this morning.
He says the officer, who has yet to be identified publicly, was working a private job when a light-colored SUV drove up to his own car, and someone in that SUV shot at him.
Harrison says the officer is doing okay at this time at University Medical Center.
The shooting was near the area of Jefferson and Camp Streets.
The search is on for suspects and information.
