Celebrate Christmas past at the 'Old Time Christmas' Family Day on Saturday, December 12 from 10a - 4p at Vermilionville. Enjoy holiday traditions from the 1700's and 1800's as you tour the beautifully decorated houses, each with their own special set of trimmings from different eras. There will be caroling, 'santon' (saints) stations to make candles, citrus pomanders, natural decorations, and soap. Little ones can also write letters to Santa, and there will be bousillage ornaments, cookie decorating, open hearth cooking demonstrations and more.

Papa Noel will also be on hand at the Trapper's Hut, and storytelling will be presented at la Maison des Cultures. And you won't want to miss the annual Cajun Jam in the performance center! This is a true showing of what it was like to celebrate the holidays in Louisiana a hundred years or more ago. Bring the family out for some good old fashioned fun! Admission is a discounted rate of $5 for this lovely holiday event.
