UPDATE – Victim Identified in Vermilion Parish Boating Accident
UPDATE - Agents with the State Wildlife and Fisheries have identified the man who died this past Sunday in a boating accident in Vermilion Parish.
KATC reports Louisiana Wildfire and Fisheries agents have identified 22-year-old Chance R. Cormier of Church Point as the victim who died in the accident in Bayou Tigure Sunday, February 28, 2021.

A boating accident on Sunday, February 28 on Bayou Tigre in Vermilion Parish claimed the life of one person.
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) agents were made aware around 5:00 pm that a man fell off a personal watercraft (PWC). A body was later recovered in the Bayou Tigre by LDWF agents, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Department, and the local volunteer Fire Department.
Upon arrival at the scene, agents learned from a witness that the man was operating the PWC by himself. The witness saw him falling off the PWC, then disappeared into the water.
The LDWF Enforcement Division is leading the investigation into the fatality.
The was recovered without a personal flotation device. The body was turned over to the Vermilion Parish Coroner's Office to determine an official cause of death.
The name of the victim has not been released to the public.
