Police in Opelousas believe a hit and run crash over the weekend is connected to an issue between a former girlfriend and boyfriend. The crash, which was reported shortly after midnight on Sunday morning appears to have involved a woman, her former boyfriend, and a companion the boyfriend was with when the crash occurred.

Police say the incident was reported about 1 am Sunday morning at the Crestview Apartments in Opelousas. Police investigators believe a vehicle driven by Lakeshia Rideau of Opelousas struck and injured a female companion of her former boyfriend. Police alleged that Rideau drove away after the incident.

The woman who was struck by the vehicle was transported via private car to a local hospital. She was reported to have injuries to her tibia and fibula. She also is reported to have a large scar made by the vehicle tire on her leg. The injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

However, Police in Opelousas have issued a warrant for charges of second degree attempted murder against Rideau. She is believed to be driving a brown/tan Nissan Altima. If you know her whereabouts contact Opelousas Police.
