Powerball Dreams Abundant Around Acadiana
We did a brief survey of friends, family, coworkers, and anyone else that would talk to us and we asked,"What would you do if you won the Powerball Jackpot"? You won't be surprised to learn that many bosses across the area would have employment opportunities less than delicately inserted where the sun does not shine.
My own personal assessment of the "take this job and shove it" dream is that most of us really wouldn't do that. We would respectfully quit our current employment and do donuts in the parking lot on the way out.
After the dream of quitting the daily grind, most respondents said they would like to take a vacation, build a swimming pool, buy a new car, put money aside for education, and get rid of bills were the top answers in that order.
Another thing I found to be very interesting is that after a few moments of hedonistic self-indulgence every one of our respondents said they would give a sizeable amount of their winnings to a favorite charity, their church, or establish a foundation or fund that would improve the lives of people where they lived.
About half of the people I talked to said they would move. About half of that half said they would move away from Louisiana. Not because they didn't want to live here but because they would want to get away from moochers. You know those members of the extended family that seem to show up for every free meal and handout in the parish. I can't say that I would want to put up with that either.
So, now you've heard a little of the good and little of the bad. Are you going to purchase a ticket tonight? The jackpot is $375 million with a cash take home amount at $235.4 million. The drawing is at 9:59 tonight and ticket sales must end one hour before the drawing. If you do choose to play, please play responsibly.
