Public Health Alert Issued for Home Delivered Ready-to-Eat Meals

(KMDL-FM) The Public Health/Recall Products Division of the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture has been extremely busy over the past few days. It seems as if each new day has brought either a new recall or a new public health alert. Today is no different, as there is now a public health alert issued for ready-to-eat food products made with spinach.

Why Are Certain HelloFresh Meals Being Recalled?

The culprit for this food recall is once again a possible threat of Listeria contamination. Listeria has been the major concern of several of the other recalls and public health alerts that FSIS/USDA has issued over the past several weeks.

As is the case with almost all products involved in a recall or public health alert, you are encouraged to discard the product if you have it on hand. You might want to take the unused product back to where you bought it, which might expedite getting a refund or a replacement. However, this recall is a little bit different.

Which HelloFresh Meals Are Included in The Public Health Alert and Recall?

The reason this recall/public health notice is different than some of the others we've referenced above is this. The "store" in question is the food delivery/meal prep service Hello Fresh. In this case, the items in question were shipped directly to consumers, so if you're a customer of Hello Fresh, these are the products you don't want to eat.

10.1-oz. containers of “HELLO FRESH READY MADE MEALS CHEESY PULLED PORK PEPPER PASTA” with establishment number “Est. 47718” and lot code 49107 or establishment number “Est. 2937” and lot code 48840. This item was shipped directly to consumers by HelloFresh.

If you have that item in your freezer, you'll need to discard it and then arrange for a refund or replacement. The same can be said if you happen to have this item from HelloFresh in your freezer.

10-oz. containers of “HELLO FRESH READY-MADE MEALS UNSTUFFED PEPPERS WITH GROUND TURKEY” with establishment number “P-47718” and lot codes 50069, 50073, or 50698. This item was shipped directly to consumers by HelloFresh.
