As a lifelong baseball fan, I've been a part many tournaments over the years. When there are several games in one day, it is typical to play the National Anthem only before the first game and that's it.

That is exactly what happened yesterday at Lamson Park for the NCAA Softball Regionals here in Lafayette. The "Star Spangled Banner" was played before the first game of the day between Weber State and Mississippi State and due to time constraints, not played before any of the subsequent games.

However, when it was time for the 6:00pm game, fans of a certain home team didn't take too kind to that. (OK, maybe that's a harsh choice of words, but you get my drift.)

Instead of just saying "play ball", fans of the Ragin' Cajuns stood up and proceeded to belt out our National Anthem.

It sounded a little something like this.

NCAA and/or ESPN said there would not be a playing of the National Anthem prior to the game and the Cajun Nation responded appropriately....game did not start according to their plan...#USA #CajunNation #FightLikeMike #GeauxCajuns #NCAA #ESPN

Well done Cajuns fans, well done!

By the way, UL defeated Baylor 9-1 in the final game of the Regional to move on to the Super Regionals beginning Friday at 1pm at Auburn.
