It's a good time to be a Ragin' Cajun', especially if you're head football coach Mark Hudspeth. Reports are that the university is planning on making a new contract extension proposal to Coach Hud sometime this week.

The Cajuns originally made an extension proposal to Hudspeth in January and his camp subsequently countered the offer.

UL athletic director Scott Farmer is hopeful the two sides can come to an agreement.

“We’re still working on it,” Farmer said from New Orleans last weekend for the UL basketball team’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament victory.

It is believed the new deal will include an increase in pay, but neither Hudspeth or the university would comment as to the exact amount.

The Ragin' Cajun coach's current contract runs through 2016 and pays $750,000 a year in salary and contingent premium benefits, plus supplemental compensation and incentive-based bonuses.
