Urgent Recall – Mattresses Sold in Louisiana and Texas a Fire Hazard

(KMDL-FM) A recent social media survey found that when it came to comfort, keeping cool at night was a priority for a good night's sleep in Louisiana. We are pretty sure most of our respondents did not factor in the fact, their mattress could burst into flames. But here's what more than 150 of you had to say on the subject.

Many who responded suggested they want the temperature even lower at night than they might keep it during the day. At least you're running your air conditioner during off-peak times, so that's something to your advantage.

It's a pretty good bet that many air conditioner units will be working overtime over the next couple of days as Louisiana officially welcomes the summer solstice tomorrow. So sliding between the cool sheets of your comfy bed at night is something a lot of us will be looking forward to. However, if you recently purchased a mattress via the online retail giant Amazon, you might not be sleeping as well as you think because some 100,000 mattresses sold on Amazon have been recalled because they pose a "deadly fire hazard".

We should note that if you go to the Amazon website and search for "Crayan Mattress," you will get a "Sorry We Couldn't Find that Page" Message.

What Brand of Mattress Sold at Amazon Has Been Recalled?

The term "deadly fire hazard" isn't our words; those are the words used by the Consumer Product Safety Commission concerning the Crayan Mattresses that are sold exclusively by Amazon.

The Chinese-manufactured products fail to meet flammability requirements and fall short of federal safety standards in the United States. The recall applies to both the ten-inch and the twelve-inch mattresses. These mattresses were sold in twin, full, king, and queen sizes.

If you purchased one of these Crayan Mattresses, you probably paid between $100 and $200 for it, and it was delivered to your address compressed in a box. The mattresses involved in this recall were sold between July 2022 and June 2024.
