The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team seems to have their stride as they defeated the Texas Longhorns 9-1 in Sugar Land, Texas, extending their winning streak to 9 games.

The stride they have hit seems to have come at the right time as it is coming down towards the last portion of the season and they haven't lost a game since losing to LSU back on April 11th. The pitching has been there all season but it looks like the Cajuns have gotten the hitting going at the right time. The Cajuns had 10 hits in the game against the Longhorns, who were at #36 in the RPI going into tonight's matchup.

The Cajuns got the lead early in the game when Steven Sensley hit an RBI single that scored Joe Robbins in the top of the 1st inning. The second inning is when the Cajuns exploded for 6 runs in the inning 4 of which came off a Joe Robbins grand slam. Robbins' grand slam seemed to give the Cajuns all of the momentum they would need.

Evan Guillory was able to shut down the Longhorns in the 6 innings he pitched allowing only 3 hits and 2 walks. The Cajuns would extend their lead to 8-0 in the 7th inning when Joe Robbins scored on a wild pitch. The Longhorns would avoid the shutout by scoring 1 run in the bottom of the 9th but it was too little too late for the Horns.

The Cajuns next matchup will be tomorrow night as they host the Mcneese State Cowboys at 6 p.m. at Tigue Moore Field at Russo Park. They will then travel to Arlington, Texas to face off against the UTA  Mavericks this weekend for a battle of 1st place in the Western division of the Sun Belt.
