Lafayette, Louisiana (KMDL) - A serial killer is defined as someone who kills in a series, typically 3 or more murders, with a "cooling-off" period between crimes.

The crimes are all premeditated and follow a type of pattern or ritual.

Some of America's most notorious serial killers include Ted Bundy, Aileen Wuornos, Jeffrey Dahmer, and BTK Killer Dennis Rader.

A last meal is a customary practice where a prisoner chooses their final meal before execution. It’s meant as a gesture of compassion, dignity, or closure, even though they offered none of these things to their victims.

So, what did some of America's most heinous and notorious serial killers request for their last meals before they were executed?

What Are The Rules For Death Row Last Meals?

Although it's kind of widely believed that a condemned prisoner's last meal can be an extravagant meal of anything they want, but this isn't really the case.

That being said, what can and can't be requested for a last meal varies state to state, with some states allowing way more than others.

Some states don't even allow last meal requests, but for those who do, there are a few rules.

Most states put a limit on what the last meal can cost, usually around $20 to $40, however, Louisiana historically allows last meals from local restaurants.

The requested food must be either already on hand or from a nearby facility.

Also, no alcohol, tobacco, or illicit substances can be granted.
