A prisoner being held in Jeff Davis Parish has been moved to another incarceration location for his own safety. This after that inmate was allegedly beaten on two separate occasions while in custody last week.

Of the seven that have been charged in connection with the incident, two of those arrested are reported to be Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Deputies. Those individuals, Jason Anthony Cartwright of Jennings and John Kurtz of Jennings, are facing charges of malfeasance in office charges as well as charges associated with the physical abuse of the inmate.

Authorities in Jeff Davis Parish say that inmate Jason Craft was assaulted on July 3rd. In one of the two alleged incidents, it was reported that hot water was poured onto Craft's legs and feet. Craft was incarcerated on rape charges involving an attack on a 10-year-old girl on July 2nd.
