It's going to be a t-shirt and shorts kind of a day across Acadiana today. By tomorrow and especially Wednesday you will need to make the seasonal shift in your wardrobe to clothes more accommodating for colder temperatures.

A strong cold front is expected to enter the area during the day on Tuesday. It should be the catalyst for an abundance of rainfall across most of the area. Behind that front are the coldest temperatures of the season so far.

If the forecast models are correct on their timing the heaviest weather associated with the cold front should push through our area between noon and 6 PM on Tuesday afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center is not forecasting severe weather with this system but there could be some heavy showers and thunderstorms associated with the frontal passage.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is forecasting a morning temperature of 44 degrees for Wednesday morning. That is about 20 degrees cooler than the temperature we're experiencing this morning.

Forecast models also indicate a reinforcing shot of cold air to move into the area late in the week. That could drop our morning temperatures below freezing in some parts of Acadiana by Saturday.
