Spencer’s Rumored to Be Opening New Store in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. (KMDL-FM) - In July of 2025, Blaze Pizza, located in the Ambassador Town Center in Lafayette closed. Since then the location has remained empty. Now, sources close to the project say that Spencer's, a staple of the Acadiana Mall for years, will soon be opening up a stand-alone location in the vacated property.

Spencer’s is a specialty retailer with hundreds of locations across the U.S. and Canada selling entertaining products aimed largely at teens and young adults. You’ll find everything from gag gifts and novelty items, to apparel and accessories, to body jewelry, room decor, collectibles, and pop-culture merchandise.

Spencer's first began as a mail order catalogue back in 1947, and according to wikipedia.com, in the early 60s began opening up brick and mortar stores in shopping malls.

The Acadiana Mall opened in 1979, and Spencer's was either part of the original stores or opened in the mall shortly there after.

According to two close and trusted sources, Spencer's Gifts will soon be opening a new Lafayette location in the former Blaze Pizza location. What we don't know is if Spencer's will be closing their long-time location inside of the Acadiana Mall and moving, or if they'll operate both locations at once.
