Retailers across America are gearing up for the holiday season, and some have even had Christmas merchandise up since the beginning of summer. (we're looking at you, Hobby Lobby) But more and more national and local retailers are making the decision to keep their doors closed on Thanksgiving Day, despite the obvious windfall it would bring.

Black Friday is obviously a huge day for retail, and is widely considered the biggest shopping day of the year, but in the last couple of years, more and more stores have kept their doors open on Thanksgiving Day. A whole day early might seem a little greedy to some, but that trend might be coming to an end.

Below is a list of stores who will be closed nationwide, allowing their employees to spend a holiday with friends or family before the big Christmas rush. The list was compiled from BestBlackFriday.com, and if you are traveling to another location for the holiday, be sure to see their regional retail locations that will be closed. Bravo! The stores that are highlighted have locations in or near Acadiana.
