Four schools between Lafayette and Vermilion Parishes had to be put on lockdown for hours yesterday after the hunt for two men who stole and crashed a four-wheeler.

Lafayette Sheriff's Captain Kip Judice says they have arrested 18-year-old Marcus Faulk and is alleged 13-year-old accomplice for felony theft and resisting an officer.  Faulk is also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile because of the age of the second suspect.

The 13-year-old is being held at the Lafayette Detention Home.

Two males stole the four-wheeler and then crashed it before being captured.  Police had the four schools on lockdown at a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the children while they were searching for their suspects.

Investigators were also able to recover a second four-wheeler at Faulk’s home that was stolen last week off of Golden Grain Road as well as two horse saddles that had been stolen in Lafayette Parish.

Judice says additional charges against Faulk are likely.

The two were taken into custody on Hog Alley Road nearly 9 hours after the pair ran away from the crash site.

Three Lafayette Parish Schools and one Vermillion Parish School were on lockdown most of the day Wednesday.
