We here at 97.3 The Dawg have been proud to be included in the ongoing journey of Lafayette's Little League All-Star team this year. So far the journey has brought all of us within one game of the holy grail of Little League, Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Should Lafayette take care of it's business againt Texas East (Pearland, Texas) then our "bayou crew" will be on a stage where the enti
Congrats to the Lafayette Little League team who played at Norcross Stadium in Waco Texas. Lafayette Little League remains unbeaten in pool after todays nationally televised showdown with the team from Altamont New Mexico. The final score was (13-6).
For the Lafayette Little League squad the trip to Waco, Texas has been hot in a couple of different ways. The temperatures in Central Texas have been unmercifully hot, fortunately the boys from the bayou know all about playing in the heat. The other heat has been generated by some very timely hitting and more than a few long balls from the Cajun crew.
Saturday Night in the Southwest Little League baseball regionals in Waco Texas the Louisiana State Champions from Lafayette took care of business. This time the bayou boys did not let an early lead slip away as they had done the night before. Lafayette took a 6-0 lead into the third inning before the team from Whitehall Arkansas got on the board with 3. Memories of a wild game the night before and
In Waco Texas this afternoon and evening they will play baseball. Not the made for TV, overpriced spoiled rich boy baseball you see in the Major Leagues, but baseball the way it was meant to be played. This baseball is played by young men who are teetering ever so close to the razor thin line between childhood and what comes next. Tonight in Waco the Little League team from Lafayette, the Louisia
This might be the best play in baseball this year. It's not a diving catch or a towering homerun. It is a simple act of kindness. It is a lesson that a lot of us could use concerning the value of "things" versus the value of "feelings". We often say here at 97...
This video is from a high school baseball game in Detroit. If I would've ever tried this, there would have been a trip to the emergency room right afterward. The crazy part is that because of silly high school rules, the kid was out! Check it out:
It may only be the second week of June, but the pennant race in both leagues for classiest move by a major league team is over.
Earlier this week, the Texas Rangers drafted a paralyzed player in this year’s Major League Baseball draft, while their cross-state rivals Houston Astros did the same.
This is the time of year I really find myself cuddling up to the radio for baseball. The ultimate destination is Omaha Nebraska and the College World Series. There have been some great moments but none better than this one.
I don't normally agree with fans running on the field and acting the donkey but since the Astros have been doing enough of that on their own this year I thought a little tomfoolery was in order. This may be the best play the Astros have seen this year, it's the great fan escape...
Normally Baseball players say, "Batter Up." But this professional Baseball player doesn't really need to say that..He practices his swing by using (drum roll) yes a piece of Bubble Gum! So I guess he'll be saying "Bubble Up"
We don't get to say this too often: UL BEATS LSU! In case you missed it, last night in Baton Rouge at Alex Box Stadium the Cajuns baseball team knocked off the #11th ranked LSU Tigers 11-5.
I am pretty sure he knows how to follow the white lines down the base paths, but just not sure he knows what to do when he gets there. Is the Wild Thing ready to rekindle one of his more popular roles? Charlie Sheen says yes!
Ahh baseball, the stuff that dreams are made of, the smell of the fresh cut grass, the roar of the crowd and something Ferris Bueller did on his day off. Do you ever wonder about sports in the movies? Were the games real? Did they actually film the movie at the game? Did they just dress up a bunch of extras and rent the stadium to make it look like a game was going on? Well if you are a fan of Fer
I love baseball but every year there are some weak injuries. Guys have hurt themselves by going to the bathroom, picking up their kid, trying to cook a turkey, you name it! This year was no different:
