As long as people keep making homemade ice cream I will keep believing in magic. As a kid we only made homemade ice cream on special occasions. It had to be a family reunion, an out of town guest, or a long weekend for my Dad. Homemade ice cream back in the dark ages took time and it was worth it.

Jill McCoy our resident First Lady of Food here at the radio station and I chatted about ice cream the other day. I told her the stories of the crushed ice, the rock salt, the hand cranking, and stories that were shared around that wooden bucket where the ice cream was churned.

Like any good artist soon to be officially Chef Jill took my story and memories for homemade ice cream and turned them into something my tongue had never dreamed of tasting. An ice cream that is so elegant and smooth your taste buds will want to make love to it. A flavor combination so rich and so natural you're transported back to a simpler time when ice cream was all that mattered on a barefoot blue sky day.

Unless you're a gourmet Chef or have traveled in Paris I am willing to bet you've never thought of combining these most intriguing flavors together in a frozen custard.

This frozen treat is to be savored. As much as you'll really want to run your tongue along the bottom of the bowl to get every flavor filled drop, you'd better watch your manners. This recipe while it might sound difficult to create at first glance is actually very easy. Jill's easy to follow instructions make it the kind of elegant dessert that you might serve at a graduation soiree' or a bridal shower.

I do hope you aren't turned off by the aspect of combining honey and sage. While we don't think of those flavors together often, they do compliment one another quite exquisitely. Give this taste temper a try and let us know what you think.
