The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team was looking to win their second conference series of the year but the bullpen faltered allowing Appalachian State to come back in the 9th and take the series. The Mountaineers defeated Louisiana 6-5 and the Cajuns fell to 11-14 on the year and 3-3 in conference play.

The Mountaineers started the scoring in the top of the first inning when they got a sacrifice fly and an RBI single to go up 2-0. The Cajuns came back in the bottom of the third inning when Todd Lott hit a sacrifice fly and Handsome Monica added a run off an RBI single.

The Cajuns took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Hayden Cantrelle hit an RBI double and then score on as Brennan Breaux got thrown out. The Cajuns lead 4-2 after 5. The Mountaineers climbed back into the game when they scored on an RBI single in the top of the sixth. The Cajuns got the 2-run lead back when Orynn Veillon hit a solo home run to make it 5-3.

The Mountaineers scored in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI ground out to make it 5-4 but the real problem came in the ninth inning when the Mountaineers had the bases loaded and took the lead on an RBI single to score two to make it 6-5. The Cajuns fought hard in the bottom of the ninth inning but fell short.

The Cajuns will finish off the homestand when they face off against Tulane Tuesday night before traveling to Troy, Alabama to face off against the Trojans.
