Taylor Swift is in the middle of a record-breaking, sold-out tour. The Eras Tour is the hottest ticket in music this year, but in 2005 Taylor Swift was just a high school student at Henderson high school outside of Nashville. This throwback interview from a local news station in Nashville gives us a glimpse into the person she was then and the artist she hoped to become. It starts out as simply as possible: a high school girl talking about her hair with friends at a table in the lunch room.

One thing that stands out from this early interview is her talking about Toby Keith and the early support she had from him. Toby Keith was instrumental in getting her signed as a virtual unknown to the record label that would become Big Machine Records. That one move kicked off a career that most artists can only dream of.

Taylor Swift played her first show at Lafayette's Cajundome as an opening act on January 11, 2006. The short set list contained some now-classic Taylor Swift songs.

As I mentioned the Taylor Swift Harris tour is underway and we are giving you tickets to see the show in San Jose, California. Listen for two back-to-back Taylor Swift songs and enter the code word in our mobile app. This contest is made possible by Universal Music and Coffeeweed Cottage in Lafayette.
