Top Golf Announces Layoffs – Louisiana Locations Could Be Affected
(KMDL-FM) Topgolf, an entertainment complex that was one of Acadiana’s most wanted new businesses for years, has announced layoffs. It is unclear at this time how the layoffs will affect the Louisiana locations of the entertainment giant, but according to multiple reports, the company has already let go of a number of workers.

Topgolf operates two facilities in Louisiana. There is the recently opened Lafayette location on Meadow Farm Road, which opened in 2023. There is also a location in Baton Rouge on North Mall Drive. Many of you probably have noticed the very tall netting of the facility is visible as you drive by on I-10.
How Many Topgolf Locations Are There?
There are currently more than 100 Topgolf locations across the country. Texas has the most of them. The Lone Star State offers fifteen different Topgolf choices, and Florida comes next with ten locations of the “driving range on steroids”.
To the uninitiated, Topgolf might seem like just a driving range, but it is so much more. Even if you’re not a golfer, you can find fun things to do at Topgolf. Golfers don’t just swing for distance; the microchipped balls can be shot at targets for non-traditional golf fun. There is also a full-service restaurant and bar, and other games and attractions that players can enjoy.

The reason many financial pundits believe Topgolf has “laid off hundreds”, according to reports, is the recent acquisition of the company by the private equity firm Leonard Green. According to some unconfirmed reports, as many as five people per location have been dismissed nationwide.
What Is the Latest on Topgolf Layoffs?
The layoffs came in the sales, operations, hospitality, events, and customer experience departments based on a story written in Dallas Magazine. Again, it is unclear if there will be further layoffs or if any Louisiana positions have been or will be eliminated.
One financial analyst said that Topgolf, once viewed as a revolutionary concept in entertainment, had lost more than $1 billion in value. Only time will tell if the new adjustments and changes in personnel will have the desired positive effect on the business's future growth.
