After having to wait overnight to hear his name called, Louisiana shortstop Blake Trahan didn't wait long on day two.

The junior from Kinder was taken with the third round selection of the Cincinnati Reds.  He is the 84th overall pick.

Just yesterday, Baseball America suggested Trahan's stock was on the rise and he could be drafted toward the end of the first round.  But all clubs, most notably the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, passed in the first two rounds.  The Angels had shown the most interest in Trahan and it was believed he would be taken by them either with pick #26 or pick #70.

Trahan has been named an All-American two straight years.  He joins Darrin Babineaux (2nd round, 1995 Dodgers), and Jonathan Lucroy (3rd round, 2007 Brewers) as Ragin' Cajuns taken in the top three rounds of the draft under Tony Robichaux.
