Truck Carrying Motor Oil Disconnects On I-10
Travelers on I-10 heading west from Lafayette toward Lake Charles got a double dose of frustration yesterday. First things first, Tuesday was the first day of lane closures in Acadia Parish along the high-speed roadway.
Crews will be alternating lane closures at three different locations in Acadia Parish for bridge inspection and repair between now and February 6th. Those overpass locations are at LA Highway 95 near Duson, LA 98 near Rayne, and LA 1111 near Crowley.
If those slowdowns weren't enough yesterday an 18-wheeler carrying motor oil ran into difficulty at the U.S. 165 onramp near Iowa. The tractor-trailer combo was hauling a load of motor oil when the trailer disengaged from the tractor. The result was a bit of an oil slick laid down in the lanes of travel.
The onramp had to be shut down while DOTD crews cleaned up the mess and the damaged tractor-trailer was repaired so that it could be moved off the roadway. The good news is this problem has been cleared. The bad news, the lane closures will still affect your drive, at least through February 6th.
