An Opelousas family is mourning the deaths of two pre-teen boys after an early morning fire.

According to Opelousas Fire Chief Charles Mason, firefighters got the call around 1:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Jake Drive in the Park Vista subdivision. Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes of the call and found the house engulfed in flames.

Four of the six people inside the house escaped. However, according to Mason, firefighters found the bodies of two boys, ages 11 and 12, inside the home. Officials have not yet released the names of the two boys.

A third child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mason says his investigators are working to determine the cause of that fire. The State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting with that investigation.
