The 18th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team fell at home in a non-conference affair on Thursday, dropping a 5-4 decision to the 15th-ranked Baylor Bears at Lamson Park.

The Bears hit two home runs, accounting for three of their five runs, while the Cajuns belted three homers, including an inside-the-park home run, accounting for all four of their runs.

Baylor took a 3-0 into the bottom half of the 6th inning, and then hung on for the one-run triumph.

Baylor got on the quickly, as leadoff hitter Jessie Scroggins homered on the third pitch of the game, before Kyla Walker walked, and later scored on a ground ball off the bat of Shelby McGlaun, giving them a quick 2-0 lead.

The two runs were attributed to UL starter Alex Stewart (7-3), who faced only two-plus hitters.

The Bears extended their lead in the top half of the 5th inning, when Kyla Walker singled, before later scoring on a McGlaun double, to widen their advantage to 3-0.

The score stayed that way until the bottom half of the 6th inning, when the Cajuns got back-to-back homers from Aleah Craighton, her fourth of the season, and DJ Sanders, who smashed her team-leading 11th of the year, to trim the deficit to 3-2.

Baylor answered right back in the top half of the 7th however, as McGlaun came through again, blasting a 2-run homer, to make it 5-2.

Louisiana, refusing to give in, made it interesting in the bottom half of the 7th, when Kara Gremillion hit a 2-run inside-the-park homer, to get them to within one run, at 5-4.

That was as close as the Cajuns could get however, as Baylor hung on for the win.

McGlaun led the way for the Bears, who outhit the Cajuns, 7-5, at the plate, driving home four runs, while Gremillion drove in two for UL.

Kelsee Selman (11-2) recorded the win in the circle for Baylor, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings of work.

With the victory, Baylor improved to 21-4, while Louisiana slipped to 17-5.

The Cajuns, who had their regularly scheduled Sun Belt Conference series with Appalachian St. this weekend cancelled, returns to action on Saturday, March 18, when they host the UTA Mavericks in a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader.
