The Sun Belt Conference softball series win streak continues for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.

10th-ranked Louisiana swept a double header from the UTA Mavericks on Saturday afternoon at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park, winning the first game, 2-0, before capturing the second game, 4-2.

The two wins extended UL's current win streak to 10 games.

Coupled with their win over UTA in the series opener on Friday night, the Cajuns extended their league series win streak to 51, a school and Sun Belt Conference record.

Louisiana has not dropped a conference series since the weekend of St. Patrick's Day in 2013.

The Cajuns, who also defeated UTA, 4-1, on Friday evening, ended up outscoring the Mavericks, 10-3, in the series.

With the triumph, UL also ran their Sun Belt Conference win streak to 15 games to begin this season, while improving their overall league win streak to 20 games, dating back to last year.

Louisiana got on the scoreboard first, plating a run in the bottom top half of the second inning, when Kara Gremillion singled home a run, to grab a 1-0 lead.

UL added another run in the bottom half of the 5th inning, when Alissa Dalton drove home a run with a single, to widen their lead to 2-0.

That turned out to be all the scoring in the game, as the Cajuns went on to the 2-0 win.

Louisiana, who outhit UTA, 5-3, was led at the plate by Kara Gremillion and Dalton, who each singled and drove home runs.

Summer Ellyson (23-4) recorded the win inside the circle for the Cajuns, tossing a three-hit shutout, while striking out five batters.

Jo Jo Valencia (3-5) suffered the loss for the Mavericks, allowing one run on three hits, over 3.0 innings.

In the second game, once again, it was Louisiana scoring first, in bottom half of the first inning, when Julie Rawls walked, before crossing the plate on a two-out triple off the bat of Sarah Hudek, to grab a quick 1-0 lead.

UTA took the lead, their first of the series, in the top half of the second inning, when Reagan Wright singled, before later scoring on a wild-pitch, prior to Whitney driving home a run with a two-out single, to grad a 2-0 advantage.

UL tied the game in the bottom half of the second inning, when Kara Gremillion began the frame with a single, before later scoring on a wild-pitch, to even the contest, 2-2.

The Cajuns took the lead, for good, in the bottom half of the 4th inning, scoring two runs with two outs, courtesy of a single by Lexie Comeaux, and an RBI double by Kourtney Gremillion, to give them a 4-2 advantage, a lead they would not relinquish.

That turned out to be more than enough, as UL hung on for the 4-2 win, as well as both the doubleheader and series sweep.

Louisiana, who outhit UTA, 7-4, was led at the plate by Keeli Milligan, who went 2-for-3, while Hudek, Comeaux, and Kourtney Gremillion all drove in runs.

Carrie Boswell (7-0) recorded the win inside the circle for the Cajuns, allowing two runs on two hits over 4.0 innings pitched.

Ellyson pitched three shutout innings of relief to record her second save of the season.

For Ellyson, it was her first save in the series, to go along with two wins.

Randi Phillips (9-12) suffered the loss for the Mavericks, allowing 4 runs on 1 hit without recording an out.

With the victories, the Cajuns improved to 33-4, overall, and 15-0 in Sun Belt Conference play, while UTA dropped to 18-21, and 6-9, respectively.

Louisiana returns to action on Wednesday evening, hosting Southeastern Louisiana in a non-conference affair, with first-pitch scheduled for 6 pm.
