Today is Sandra Woodley's last day on the job. Woodley has been in they University of Louisiana System's Presidents role since 2013. The UL system is the largest higher education System in Louisiana. It enrolls over 92,000 students.

Of the many accomplishments during her tenure as system president Woodley says it's what she's been able to accomplish with the legislature that she is most proud. She told the Louisiana Radio Network that helping legislators understand that higher education is not an expense but an investment will serve the state better in the long run.

Today, I think that there is a wide realization that higher education is the ticket for a better economy and a better quality of life in Louisiana.

Woodley will remain as an advisor for interim president Dan Reneau until March 15th. Reneau is a former president of Louisiana Tech University. He is expected to remain in that position until a permanent replacement can be found and then approved.

Woodley announced her intentions to resign this past November and as far as any future plans,

You know, I have several options that I'm looking at and I really haven't decided, yet.  Over the next couple of months I'll figure out what my next spot will be.

The University of Louisiana system is made up of these state universities; Grambling State University, Louisiana Tech University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and the University of New Orleans.
