UL’s Dr Ernest Gaines Receives National Medal of Arts Today
President Barack Obama will present author Dr Ernest J. Gaines, University of Louisiana at Lafayette writer-in-residence emeritus,with the highest award given to artists and arts patrons by the United States government - The National Medal of Arts.
Gaines will receive the honor during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House today, along with another Louisiana native - musician Allen Toussaint. Congrats from everyone in Acadiana, Dr Gaines and Mr Toussaint!
