(KMDL-FM) Louisiana fans of Universal Theme Park in Orlando, Florida, I have some bad news for you. One of the most iconic places to eat in all of the CityWalk is going to closing it's doors and go away for good.

Now, some would argue that this iconic eatery, which has been a fixture at the Orlando theme park since 2009, isn't going away for "good". They maintain it's going away for "better". But that is simply a matter of taste and how much money you have in your pocket.

Universal Closing Iconic Eatery at CityWalk - It's Been Open Since 2009

So, when I say the CityWalk, you know the area of the Universal Theme Park in Orlando I am speaking of, right? It's the place where you will find a lot of famous food brands on offer. Some stores offer food from Auntie Anne’s, Starbucks, Panda Express, Moe’s Southwest Bar, and Burger King Whopper Bar.

The BK Whopper Bar is the place where they take the whole "Have it Your Way" experience to the next level. Instead of your flame-broiled Whopper being assembled behind the counter and the heat lamps, at the Whopper Bar, your sandwich is created right in front of you.

Why is the Burger King Whopper Bar at Universal Closing? What's Replacing It?

The concept by Burger King was to see if they could make fast food dining feel a little more upscale. I guess it worked because the Whopper Bar was opened as an experiment in Germany and Singapore, too. But alas, as the McRib from McDonald's can only be here for a little while, so too is the fate of the Whopper Bar.

Officials with Universal in Orlando have confirmed that as of April 21, 2026, the Burger King Whopper Bar, which has been operating at the CityWalk, will close. Here is where the "for better" comment we made earlier in the article comes into play.

According to the folks at Universal, the Whopper Bar will be replaced by another iconic burger joint, Five Guys. Some folks find their burgers to be a tastier treat than those of Burger King. I know they cost more, but isn't that everything these days?

And while it's sad to see a location closing, it's not like you can't get a Whopper at several thousand other locations across the country. I guess the same could be said about Five Guys, although their market penetration isn't quite so deep.
