Vermilion Parish Shelter in Urgent Need of Adoptions Ahead of Monday Deadline
Vermilion Parish Rabies Animal Control is currently overcapacity and has put out an urgent plea for cat adoptions before Monday or animals will have to be put down.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Vermilion Parish Rabies Animal Control tells KATC they have received more cats but adoptions have decreased significantly.
As a result, the shelter is overcapacity, and unless adoptions can be increased quickly they have no choice but to put down some of the cats this coming Monday (08/17/20)
From KATC -
"Most of their cats are brought to other states to be adopted, but even those transports have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. The pandemic has also made it difficult for the rescue to have weekly adoption events at PetSmart or other area pet stores."
If you'd like to adopt, you can get more information at aavarescue.com, contact them on their Facebook page, or call them at 337-366-0212.
