Agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries have recovered the body of a man who was killed in a boating accident on Avery Canal on Sunday. According to reports, the body of 35-year-old Eric Delcambre was recovered from the canal about 8:30 on Sunday evening.

Investigators say that Delcambre was piloting a 17-foot craft with two passengers on board when the crash occurred. The two passengers were able to swim safely to the shore. Delcambre was unable to swim to safety.

According to information from LDWF agents, Delcambre's body was recovered without a personal flotation device. His body has been turned over to the Iberia Parish Coroners office for an autopsy.

Agents investigating the crash say neither of Delcambre's two passengers were injured in the incident and only the craft that Delcambre was piloting was involved.
