Charles Kurault visited the legendary Fred's in Mamou as part of his 'On The Road' series.

Charles Kurault was a legendary broadcaster probably best known for his visit to just about every corner of the United States for CBS. In the 1970s, he visited portions of South Louisiana and highlighted what makes the Cajun culture the most unique in the country. He nails our way of life when he says that it's about hard work, family, looking after your neighbors like family, good food and music, and living at a different pace than everyone else in the country. I don't think you can love South Louisiana and not be moved by this short but powerful video that celebrates our Cajun way of life. Thanks to Kurt Schoeffler for preserving this video on YouTube.
