Some residents of Jefferson Davis Parish went to bed last night without the ability to take a bath, flush a toilet, or even wash dishes. A water main break in Thornwell is the culprit. Or I should say, was the culprit. Crews with Jeff Davis Water & Sewer Commission #1 got the breach repaired and water service has been restored.

However, as is usually the custom following a disruption in water service, a boil advisory has been posted for residents who were affected by the outage. That would include customers of Jeff Davis Water and Sewer who live in Thornhill, Lake Arthur, and a portion of the city of Jennings from Cleopha road going south.

Residents are encouraged to bring water to a full boil for at least one minute before using. This precautionary measure will likely be in place for a short time this morning. Once officials have checked the repairs and the water service has been certified safe again then the advisory will be lifted.
