Wife of Canadian Prime Minister Tests Positive for Coronavirus
Sophie Trudeau, the wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has tested positive for the coronavirus. The Canadian First Lady reportedly began feeling ill following a speaking engagement in the United Kingdom.
Mrs. Trudeau reported having flu-like symptoms and in an abundance of caution was self-quarantined while test results were pending. Canada's Prime Minister will also undergo a self-quarantine protocol that's expected to last the suggested 14 days.
So far, Justin Trudeau has not shown any signs or symptoms of the disease. He is continuing to work while in self-quarantine and that includes having a dialogue with world leaders including U.S. President Donald Trump.
The Prime Minister and the President welcomed the close coordination between Canada and the United States in managing this challenge, including as it relates to the Canada-U.S. border, and looked forward to staying in touch.
Trudeau's office released that statement earlier this week. Canada has reported 138 cases of the disease so far. The hardest his provinces include Ontario with 59 and British Columbia with 46.
