Wing Wars : Shaking Out the Good Stuff for Kids in Acadiana
The date has been set, the location has been determined, all we need to know now is who is going to be involved in the fight. No, it's not that kind of a fight, it's the kind of fight where we eat copious amounts of chicken wings and help out kids and families that are facing homelessness in Acadiana.
It's Wing Wars 2025 and because of this group's heroic effort to shine light on the problem of homelessness among Acadiana's school-age children, we are shining the Shaking Out the Good Stuff spotlight from Morton Salt's Weeks Island facility on them.
Shaking Out the Good Stuff is a weekly spotlight feature that offers information and publicity for events and groups that are working to make life in South Louisiana better for everyone. This effort is spearheaded by the Week's Island facility of Morton Salt. That facility is currently looking to fill a myriad of positions. Great pay and benefits are available to qualified candidates, find out more about the opportunities here.
Wing Wars bills itself as Acadiana's Chicken Wing Festival and Cook-Off. It will take place in Lafayette's Parc International on April 12th from 10 am to 4 pm. The event features a chicken wing cook-off among South's top wing experts. There is also a wing toss tournament and an auction.
This year's live entertainment includes Swamp Land Revival, the Sharona Thomas Band, and Coteau Grove. The event is currently securing sponsors, so if you or your business would like to help the Gifting Grace Project by joining in support of Wing Wars your time and money would be appreciated.
Tickets are free for kids 15 and under, and a general admission adult ticket is just $5. We should note that this ticket just gets you in the gate. There is a separate charge for food, drinks, and other activities during the event.
The group is also seeking volunteers to help out on the day of the event as well. We have worked with Gifting Grace and Wing Wars on several occasions. You will find your time and money is well spent when you spend it on this event and this organization. If you'd like to find out how to volunteer, click here.
Otherwise, we'll see you on April 12th in Parc International. Bring your appetite and your wallet so you can eat until you're full and support Gifting Grace until it helps. And don't forget to check out the opportunities that await you in your next career with Morton Salt at Week's Island.
