You Can Now Drink on a New Orleans Streetcar…Well Sort Of
Drinking on a working streetcar in New Orleans is not allowed. But now there's a way for you to enjoy an adult beverage on one of the city's classic modes of transportation.
The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center unveiled its new Streetcar Bar this week at the start of NOLA ChristmasFest.
The bar is a three-quarter-sized replica of one of the city's iconic streetcars. The new bar is 33 feet long and serves patrons from the window of the streetcar.
It will move soon to its semipermanent home in the lobby of Hall G when ChristmasFest ends. Guests in town for meetings, conventions and the like will get to enjoy it at the new location.
"This new feature visually represents one of the most iconic experiences of New Orleans and will be well-received by our 800,000-plus visitors annually who visit the Convention Center to attend a meeting, convention, trade show or event," said Michael Saway, Convention Center president.
