According to the National Hurricane Service, Hurricane Zeta has made landfall in Louisiana much stronger than anticipated.


The hurricane came ashore near Cocodrie and video from that area on social media shows a heavy downfall of rain and high winds. A few short days ago Hurricane Zeta was predicted to be only a Category 1 storm when it made landfall, but it strengthened to a strong Category 2 storm by this afternoon.

Tornado Intercept posted this picture of some damage in Grand Isle:

As of this hour, the maximum sustained winds for Zeta are at 110 miles per hour. Forecasters expect the storm to move out of the state rather quickly, as it is traveling at nearly 25 miles per hour.
