Are you trying to live a healthier life style?  Whether you are trying to watch what you eat and work out a little more often to reach your weight loss goals, bikini body, or just feel better, that is awesome! We all want to look good in bathing suits for the summer months, but we can't expect to look and feel good when we aren't taking proper care of our body. I have 6 simple diet tips to help you reach your goals, whatever they may be.

  1. Drink plenty of water. You see this all the time, and it's an important factor in being healthy. Cut out the sodas immediately, and start chugging some good ol' H2O. Sometimes people mistake thirst for hunger, so before you inhale candy or potato chips, drink a bottle of water first.
  2. Moderation is key. Don't completely get rid of your favorite snacks and comfort foods because chances are, you will eventually find a way to scarf them down. You can still buy your favorite foods, but don't munch on them all day, every day.
  3. Eat several, healthy mini-meals daily. Several people think loosing weight involves starving. This is the absolute wrong route to take because yes, you will loose weight if you aren't eating, but you will not look healthy and you will gain the weight back. When you do gain the weight back you will have more fat than you started with because not eating caused your muscles to diminish. You should eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner. However, these mini-meals need to be healthy and portion-size appropriate.
  4. Eat protein for every meal. Protein is your best friend. It fills you up and keeps you full longer while promoting muscle mass. Proteins such as lean meats, seafood, eggs, and beans should be a few of your main staples.
  5. Spices are good. This is perfect for us Southern Louisianians. Food loaded with flavor is more satisfying and filling. Keep adding spices and chilies to your food, but don't overload the salt.
  6. Get enough sleep. When you are sleep deprived, your body overproduces ghrelin, the appetite-stimulating hormone. Getting a regular seven to eight hours of sleep per night, maintains your hormone levels.

With simple alternatives such as these, your body will certainly be able to tell. Remember, loosing weight is a slow process, but living a healthy life has immediate benefits. For more easy diet tips, click here. Start today!
