(KMDL-FM) Here comes one of the most ironic product recalls that you will ever read about. The subject of the recall is a product whose purpose is to help get things clean. The reason for the recall? This cleaning product might be "dirty".

Although that is ironic in the world of product recalls, there is nothing funny about a potential health or injury risk associated with a product available on store shelves across the country. That's why the Consumer Products Safety Commission explores and researches each complaint made by consumers.

Sometimes the complaints are "operator error" or just a disgruntled consumer with buyer's remorse. Other times, the observations of consumers or the observations of inspectors where products are made become the catalyst for creating a safer shopping scenario for American consumers.

How Does Walmart Handle Recalled Products?

Mega retailer Walmart is no stranger to consumer recalls. The store actually provides a running list of recalled items that could have been sold in their stores on their website. The list also includes consumer information on how to get a refund or a replacement product.

And this is how it's supposed to work: the producer, the seller, the overseer, all working together for the common good of the American consumer. So, now let's tell you about that laundry product that you might need to replace or throw away.

Recalled Product Used in Many Louisiana Laundry Rooms

The reason for the recall is a bacterial infection or contamination. According to the CPSC, the recalled products can contain bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa,  an environmental organism found widely in soil and water.

Recalled Laundry Product Was Sold in Multiple Stores and Online

While many of the products were sold through Walmart stores, the stain remover was also available at Target, The Home Depot, Meijer, Staples, TJ Maxx, and Amazon online. The recalled products were sold on store shelves or online between March 2019 and December 2025.

If you have any of the products in your home, you are encouraged not to use them and discard them. By the way, when discarding, do not empty the product from its container; just throw the entire thing away.

How Do I Obtain a Full Refund For a Recalled Product?

If you'd like to get a refund of your money, you'll need to contact Thrasio, the manufacturer. To obtain a refund, consumers should take a picture of the product with “recalled” and their initials written on it in marker and email the photo to productrecall@angryorange.com.
