It's a dubious distinction, a statistic that puts Louisiana near the top of a very disturbing list. That list involves the number of student/teacher sex crimes. The most recent arrest was reported in East Baton Rouge Parish yesterday. It involved a teacher at Christian Life Academy and a student that attended classes at that school.

According to East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, 27 year old Amber Anderson was brought in for questioning concerning an incident that happened two years ago. Casey Rayborn Hicks, spokesperson for the sheriff told the Louisiana Radio Network what happened when their office received a complaint from the mother of the victim,

"When we talked to her son, he told us that when he was 15 he and his teacher exchanges sexually explicit text messages and then later engaged in sex at her residence,"

27 year old Anderson was brought in for questioning concerning the complaint and during that questioning admitted to having the relationship. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail on felony charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

According to reports the details of the incident were brought to light by a friend of the student involved.

"One of the boy's friends came forward and told the mother. So she stated that she did not know that there was a sexual relationship until just recently."

According to information obtained by detectives the relationship began between the student and the teacher begin in 2013 with a series of text messages. The messages became sexual in nature with both the student and the teacher exchanging intimate photographs. From there the relationship progressed to physical and sexual nature, both the student and the teacher allegedly  confirmed there were multiple sexual encounters between the two.  Anderson  is listed on the Christian Life Academy website as a teacher of junior high and high school mathematics.
