A Monroe man's April Fool's day prank wasn't as funny as he thought it would be. It got him arrested.

Myarklamiss.com reports 71-year-old Edward Cheek of Monroe "at approximately 8:05 a.m., Edward Cheek pulled into the drop-off area of Lexington Elementary in the proximity of 3 separate teachers and pointed a toy gun". Cheek then allegedly said "bang, bang" as he pointed the toy gun at the teachers.

The teachers told police that initially, they thought the gun was real. As Cheek moved closer they realized it was a toy.

Police showed up at Cheek's house shortly after and placed him under arrest. He was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on three counts of assault on a school teacher.

He has been released.
