New Orleans Saints cornerback Brandon Browner offered a farewell to the organization on social media, with ESPN NFL insider John Clayton confirming he will be released. The news is not official yet, as the team can't cut him until after the Super Bowl on Sunday due to league rules.

Browner is not the first contract the Saints will regret having on their books.

By cutting Browner, the Saints will have over $5 million in dead money next season from his contract alone. They will also pay him $2.75 million in guaranteed money based on the contract he inked with the club last offseason.

Coming off back to back Super Bowl championships with the Seahawks in 2013 and Patriots in 2014, New Orleans hoped Browner would bring a championship pedigree to the Saints secondary. Instead, he brought an NFL all-time record 24 penalties for 207 yards (not including the flag he drew that were declined), shouting matches with his defensive coordinator Dennis Allen after giving up an easy touchdown versus the Panthers, and outbursts toward the media.

Needless to say, Browner's signing with the Saints was a complete and utter failure, and now the team will have less money to work with next season in free agency because of it.

In addition to Browner's $5 million plus cap hit, the Saints already have $12.1 million in dead money against their cap from Junior Galette.

The former Saints defensive end/linebacker was released last offseason after a string of off field incidents (including a video of a beach brawl which showed him strike a woman with a belt) and publicly airing rumors about teammates and coaching staff.

Browner shared the following message on his Instagram account this morning.

"I truly did love the city, really wanted to do well for the 504. Some of the best people, best hospitality, and food. And a city that will show u a good time. How could you beat that. I got TRU friends in da city. 💯 appreciate the opportunity the saints gave me, my teammates, I enjoyed coming to work everyday grinding with this group. First Class organization top down coaching staff, equipment, training staff, to the cooks in the kitchen. Can't forget the strength and conditioning team. Greatly Appreciated."
