Vehicle break-ins are rising in Acadiana. Broussard has had so many lately the Broussard Police Department is currently investigating a rash of car break-ins. According to the BPD, in some cases, firearms were stolen.

Broussard Police Department posted on Facebook a photo taken from a video of one of the suspects asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. They also remind everyone to always lock your vehicles and remove anything of value.

According to KLFY, in Broussard, there have been 45 car burglaries since January 1st. The burglars are taking guns, cash, debit cards, jewelry, and electronics. There have been 13 of these cases that resulted in arrests.

Broussard Police Chief, Brannon Decou, says most of the time it’s unlocked vehicles. He also says it appears to be a single person walking a subdivision.
