The mud covered electorate of the state of Louisiana will be forced to endure one more evening of political backstabbing, name calling, allegations, and half truths tonight. That's right Mary Landrieu and Bill Cassidy are going to "debate" again tonight.  I use the quotation marks because a real debate would be useful. The show that will be put on tonight will be any but that for voters in Louisiana.

Call me cynical and you would be correct. I just don't see how one more debate is going to change the hearts and minds of the electorate. However, since it could I guess we should proceed with the program regardless of what I think. Now if we could only get people to turn off Monday Night Football long enough to watch the darn thing. Maybe we should since the winner of this election will represent us in the United States Senate for the next six years.

In case you don't plan on watching tonight's debate here's what I think will happen. Landrieu will come out swinging at Cassidy claiming he was paid for time worked at the LSU Health Science Center.  Supposedly the time sheets that Cassidy turned in for payment do not match time worked at the facility . That's a charge that Cassidy has publicly denied.  In case you didn't know besides being a Congressman,  Bill Cassidy is also a doctor.

Cassidy will counter with Obama, Obama, Obama, and he just might attempt to link Mary Landrieu with  President Obama. Stop me if you've heard this before.

The basic consensus among political pundits is this. The race is Cassidy's to lose. It will take a major political faux pas, and or complete and total apathy on the part of Cassidy supporters for Landrieu to win this election. Rumor has it the Republican Party has brought in specialized "get out the vote" squads to insure that apathy is not an option for voters this Saturday.

If you'd like to watch tonight's debate it will take place at 7pm tonight from the studios of WAFB in Baton Rouge which will televise the debate. Viewers may also watch the debate on Lake Charles KPLC TV.
