If you're looking for a reason to jump right into the Christmas spirit, this is it.

There are numerous opinions on when Christmas celebrations should begin. Some are ready to put up their Christmas tree the morning after Halloween, while others choose to get into the holiday spirit after Thanksgiving. Now, science says putting up the decorations earlier means that you're just happier.

According to psychoanalyst Steve KcKeown, it's all about finding the happier times from your childhood.

In a world full of stress and anxiety, people like to associate to things that make them happy, and Christmas decorations evoke those strong feelings of the childhood. Decorations are simply an anchor or pathway to those old childhood magical emotions of excitement. So putting up those Christmas decorations early extends the excitement!

Other psychotherapists agree, saying that it's the "nostalgia" that links us to those happier times from our past when we see the Christmas decorations. I can remember those car rides with my family as we passed by house after house decorated with lights, and I must admit, those are some of the fondest memories I have from my childhood.

Experts also suggest it can help those who have lost loved ones feel closer to them by feeling more "connected" to that individual by decorating early.

Nostalgia helps link people to their personal past, and it helps people understand their identity. For many, putting up Christmas decorations early is a way for them to reconnect with their childhoods.

So grab that tree down from the attic and get that obnoxiously oversized blowup Santa and let's get these holidays cracking—because who can argue with science, right?

Will you be decorating early? Do you wait until after Thanksgiving? Sound off and let me know in the comments now.
