Vermilion Parish Lifts Curfew

UPDATE: Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon says he is lifting the curfew effective immediately.

According to officials with the Vermilion Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness, there will be parish-wide curfew starting at 8:00 tonight going through 5:00 tomorrow morning.

The city of Abbeville has announced that they will have a curfew starting tonight going into Thursday morning.

According to officials with the Abbeville Police Department, the curfew starts at 10 o'clock tonight, Wednesday, August 26, and it will extend through 5 o'clock on Thursday morning, August 27.

The curfew means that they are asking all people and cars to stay off of the streets between these hours unless you are part of an emergency group.

You will be allowed to travel back and forth to work, and anyone on officials city business will be allowed to travel as need.

If there is a need for a further curfew, it will be announced.
