(KMDL-FM) The folks at Coca-Cola say they are rolling out a new product that has been described as a "new way to drink Coke". The product will be rolling out nationwide and will be featured in Louisiana convenience stores in the very near future. Some of the new products may have already reached warehouse clubs and big box stores. But the official rollout is still in progress.

The reason for a new addition to the Coca-Cola family of products is economics. The giant soft drink retailer has seen a decline in demand for its products in recent years. The new product is seen as a way to give consumers more of what they want. And in the case of the new product, less of what they don't want.

And while your mind might be drifting in the direction of a "new flavor" or "new taste," this new product from Coca-Cola will feature the same iconic tastes you've come to grow and love, but the serving size will be changed. First, to reflect consumer choices when it comes to size. And second, the change is being made to offer consumers a different price point when they come in to shop for beverages.

What Major Change is Coca-Cola Making to Its Products?

Coke is manifesting this change by offering a different serving size. Most of us are familiar with Coke in the 12-ounce serving. That's usually the standard amount in a typical can. In bottles, you're probably familiar with the 20-ounce plastic bottles that are available in convenience stores. You might even be familiar with the 10-ounce products that Coke and many other soft drink retailers sell. But this new product is a little different.

Coke has plans to roll out nationwide by early next year a new 7.5-ounce serving. These "mini" cans will also feature Coke Zero Sugar, Cherry Coke, Sprite, Fanta, and several other flavors. In places where Diet Coke is a market leader, there will also be 7.5-ounce servings of that flavor made available as well.

How Much Will New Mini Cans of Coke Products Cost?

Coke plans to offer the 7.5-ounce mini can at a suggested retail price of $1.29. A 20-ounce Coke will cost you a little over $2, and the braintrust at Coca-Cola believes that having a beverage with a price point under $2 will be good for consumers and ultimately good for business.
