A time-honored Louisiana tradition has come under fire as of late. I don't care whether you call Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, or Lafayette home, chances are if you live in one of those cities or in any community in Louisiana you love to snack. Snacking is something Louisiana folks have done well for centuries. But here lately our TV time pastime has come under fire because of a myriad of product recalls.

Yesterday we reported on chocolate-covered nuts being recalled, before that there were other chocolate goodies that needed to be looked at, and now the list is growing even longer. To make matters worse, the recall we're informing you about is on a product that most people would consider to be a "healthy food".

We say considered to be "healthy" because often times when you read the labels on products that present themselves as an important part of a healthy diet you find out they are loaded with extra sugar, extra salt, or they have chemicals in them that make rats drink, smoke, and enjoy the programs on the CW. Yeah, that's how devastating those chemicals can be.

The product we are concerning ourselves with on this most recent recall made by the Food and Drug Administration is granola. Namely MadeGood brand granola bars. Evidently, they were "madegood" as the label might want you to believe. The recall is actually voluntary. Riverside Natural Foods made the voluntary recall after it was alleged that foreign items had been found in the packaging.

According to Riverside Natural Foods the following products are affected by this recall:

Chocolate Chip Granola Bars, Mixed Berry Granola Bars, Strawberry Granola Bars, Cookies & Crème Granola Bars, Chocolate Banana Granola Bars, Chocolate Drizzled Birthday Cake Granola Bars, Chocolate Drizzled Cookie Crumble Granola Bars, and Chocolate Drizzled Vanilla Granola Bars.

The products were produced between January and November of 2024. That's a rather large production run. So you might have these products in your pantry. Here's what you're looking for.

The color and description of the product packaging might change from flavor to flavor but you get the idea. Here's a complete list of the recalled products.  The company said the recall was initiated based on possible metal contamination. The company suggested in a press release that the metal might be from small, flat brush bristles used in the manufacturing process.

If you have some of the recalled products in your home, you may return the item to the point of purchase for an exchange or refund. Or, you may contact the company to arrange for a refund directly.
